Category: General, PMP Posted:Jul 07, 2015 By: Alvera Anto- Define the Scope and Objectives of the project
Scope is the boundary of the project. One must try to understand the scope of the project. Understanding the stakeholders is necessary along with their expectations of these people. Defined the scope and objectives, and review the same with the stakeholders.
- Define the Deliverables
Define the delivery result for the project. Decide the tangible things in detail and make a document for the same.
The stakeholders must review and agree on the deliverables that will be delivered.
- Project Planning
Planning requires proper planning of resources and budget by the project manager. With the help of WBS (Work Breakdown Structures) one must define the activities for the project. This will help in deciding the time, resources and the effort for the task. Estimation shall help to identify the key resources and the budget for the project.
Milestone must be properly defined for the activities in the project.
- Communication
Project plans are redundant unless there is an effective communication to the team. The team members must know their roles and responsibilities properly so that they deliver their project results.
They must concentrate on the tasks that are assigned by the manager and is critical for the project.
- Tracking and Reporting Project Progress
Once the project has started it is important to monitor the project for performance. One must try to compare the actual progress with the planned progress. Variations in cost and resources must be taken care with appropriate action.
Adjust the plan with the changes for the same.
- Change Management
Stakeholders often change their requirements. So the project manager must address this changing need for the project. This will help them make critical decisions for the project.
- Risk Management
Risks affect the outcome of the project. So a manager must plan activities to mitigate the risks for the project. This will ensure that the risk has less impact.
