After the first industrial revolution job market has changed drastically, there is a lot of fear that machines will replace traditional jobs. People will lose their jobs. But, there were several benefits of the industrial revolution. It has generated jobs for millions of people. There is mass production of goods and services. People get a better quality of products. The concept of zero defects and no error become significant. So, change is necessary. However, any major change affects us. Many of us lose jobs, and many will find new job opportunities. Those who are capable of up-skilling themselves will get jobs. Those who depend on traditional knowledge will become irrelevant.  The arrival of new technology will make the old technology irrelevant.

Repetitive tasks will be automated. Human beings are considered as intelligent people. Their purpose of living is to do work that is challenging and fulfilling. We found ourselves as the supreme creatures of the universe since there is no intelligent life other than ourselves till date. Our analytical skill differentiates us from the animals and other creatures of the planet. We are capable of learning from nature and use it for our benefits. We are a pioneer in reverse engineering. Many industry stalwarts are requesting to stop doing any further research on it. But many others are giving strong arguments in support of pursuing research in AI. But before we move forward how it will impact our job market.  We should understand what AI means.  Artificial Intelligence is the development in the computer systems to do jobs by using human intelligence. The tasks include decision-making, visual perception, and speech recognition. We, humans, are expected to perform tasks in certain ways in particular conditions. The machines are trained to perform those tasks when a similar situation arises. They execute the tasks perfectly without any delay in their work. The computer systems can do repetitive tasks for an infinite number of times perfectly without any complaint. We become bored with repetitive tasks and find it difficult to do the same task infinite number of times. We are always on the move. Once we conquer one task, we need newer tasks to move up. So, yes, artificial intelligence is the need of today. But it will drastically change the job markets. The jobs which require low human ability and are repetitive can easily be modeled through AI. In the coming future, many jobs in the major organizations like railways and banking sector will be wiped out. So, the crisis of employment is the major issue today and disaster in the future.

 Artificial Intelligence is categorized into two categories. They are Narrow AI and General AI. Narrow AI is known as weak AI whereas General AI is known as Strong AI. Narrow AI is already present with us in our day-to-day life. Web-surfing, facial recognition, internet searches, smartphones are all examples of narrow AI in our daily life. Narrow AI is not capable enough to outsmart us in every cognitive task. But further research and innovation in general AI will be capable of outperforming us in our cognitive task. They can be superior enough to talk among themselves and take the decision themselves. They are like robots which we watch in marvel movies. They can become powerful to make us slave of their and even wipe from history. However, AI is helpful for us in many sectors like they are constantly used for verification, control validity, and security. The security system in the organization has improved because of narrow AI. We can get the delivery of goods and services due to the development of AI while sitting at home. We could find the way while driving the vehicles due to Artificial Intelligence. Many jobs will be wiped out from the industry. Jobs like driving, clerical duties, and middleman will be outdated.  There will be no more agents. There are several benefits and disadvantages of AI.

The job markets that will be impacted more are clerical jobs in most of the organizations. The jobs in the entry level are mostly repetitive and are master in one-two years. The automated machines are replacing these jobs. We can see many examples of it in our day-to-day life. After the mechanization of industries i.e. uses of robots in the organization, the banking and railways sectors are the biggest job provider in the service sector. They provide jobs to millions of people. However, with the evolution of the IT sector the jobs in these sectors are reducing, and the IT sector has become the largest service provider directly as well as indirectly. There are several examples where AI is removing the traditional. Like in the banking sector people use to stand in queue for hours to update their passbook, to know their balance, to transfer money from one account to another. Internet banking has replaced all this. People have to stand for whole day to get their money from banks. But AI has changed this. We can get money from ATM anytime. Similar is the case in the railways. People use to stand for hours in order to book their ticket. There is a long queue outside the passenger reservation system. Some even couldn’t catch their train on time. But now they could book tickets while sitting at home. There are several incidents when people are poorely treated badly by persons sitting in railway inquiry. But now you can get your train running status, seat availability and PNR inquiry while sitting at home. You can come to station later if the train is late. There is a time when passengers have to spend several hours on the station as the train is late.

Apart from banking and railways sectors, there are many benefits in the transportation sectors and government services which help us to appreciate the benefits of AI. Now the governance is about ART because of AI. ART stands for Accountable, Responsible and Transparent. Corruption in the government services has reduced a lot. No file in the government can move without giving a bribe. People have to run through the government offices for months for getting work done. But now due to AI, government has launched many services like UMANG app in India. It is an app which includes a collection of all the e-services provided by the government in one place. People can keep track of their work requests on this portal. There is more transparency, more accountability and less corruption in the government services. All this is not possible had there been no Artificial Intelligence.  Artificial Intelligence has also tremendously helped in the transportation sector like aviation. There is automatic scheduling of aircraft. There is less micro management. The security in the aviation sector has improved. The airports efficiency has improved a lot due to AI. People travel becomes safer due to AI.

However, there are many limitations of AI. The biggest limitation of AI is that removing traditional jobs. There is more and more research to bring innovation in various sectors using AI. However, there is less focus on providing training to the people who are getting replaced by AI. They are not up-skilled. The cost of training is high and requires higher analytical capabilities. For industries to stay in the job market, need investment in the cutting edge technology and reduce their input cost in production. So, they keep trying ways to reduce cost. Hence, training manpower is an unnecessary cost for the industries. That is the reasons we are finding less hiring, more layoffs, retrenchment today. For sustainable, transparent business, the company depends on more technology than the human being. Our judgment can be biased. Humans have bad emotions like greed, lust whereas machine doesn’t. They will do the task as they are designed to do. The employee of a company can delay task, accept money in favour of doing a job whereas a machine can’t. If you meet a specific requirement, your job will be done automatically without any delay. So the future belongs to AI. There will be more jobs in the creative industry like entertainment, physiotherapy, sports industry, etc. Humans by nature are lazy and like entertainment most of the time. Artificial Intelligence can do routine jobs, but they cannot have emotions and feelings like we humans have. There are still lots to be done in this sector. Many jobs will be removed in the future due to the AI. Job loss to a certain degree is a certainty, but many more jobs will be created due to AI.
