Big Data Hadoop has undergone few updations with enhanced security and other features. The company released the new version with 100 new features which consists of Apache distribution and Hadoop.
Hadoop 2.2 has a new feature to support Apache Kafka on Yarn. The new feature has introduced automatic back up for Amazon S3 and Microsoft to cloud. Kafka is fault tolerant, high scale, publish subscribing message system.
Stinger that is used in the enterprise version have resulted in increased speed of SQL query n Hadoop. Hence there is transformation in SQL engine from read only to read write mode. The updated feature includes SQL semantics for ACID transactions. SQL statements that include SELECT, UPDATE and INSERT are used in the Hive. XA secure project has been purchased by Hortonworks and this has been proposed as incubator project for Apache. Policy enforcement across the cluster and security administration across different engines and clusters is an add on feature of Apache Hadoop. There is a cost optimization feature where the statistics are generated to execute plans.
Apache Argus helps in providing policy enforcement and security administration to various components inside Hadoop. Now the features include optimization of SQL and leads to high performance.Hence these updates have made Hadoop an interesting area of study.
