Introducing SAP S/4HANA 1610

The next-generation business suite, SAP S/4HANA built on an advanced in-memory platform offers a personalized user experience using SAP FIORI. SAP S/4HANA is built to instantly drive the business values across the business lines both on cloud or on-premise with ultimate sophistication.

There are seven editions of SAP S/4HANA with two deployment options as of September 2016, Let us see a quick review of each edition before we start SAP S/4HANA 1610 Edition.

#1- SAP S/4HANA 1503 On-premise Edition

Previously known as SAP Simple Finance, the first release of SAP S/4HANA. It offers finance-related HANA Optimizations. Basically named as sFin 2.0, a finance add-on based on SAP NetWeaver 7.4. This is the most suitable edition for SAP Business Suite customers who are looking for optimizations and improvements in Finance.

#2- SAP S/4HANA 1511 On-premise Edition

This is considered as separate product has it has major innovations and HANA related optimizations in both Finance and Logistics. This edition offers simplifications in Material Resource Planning (MRP), Capacity Planning, Inventory Management, Sales and Distribution on transactional data with real-time analytics.

As part of the migration, SAP NetWeaver 7.5, the core component of S4Core requires the installation of SAP FIORI on the SAP S/4HANA On-premise edition.

#3- SAP S/4HANA 1511 FPS01 On-premise Edition

This is the first on-premise Feature Pack Stack (FPS) based on SAP NetWeaver 7.5 SP01 for SAP S/4HANA released in February 2016. It offers enhanced FIORI applications and more stabilization by providing minor enhancements to the existing features. Two new industry solutions i.e. Higher Education and Research and Defence Security is supported by SAP S/4HANA FPS01 edition.

#4- SAP S/4HANA 1511 FPS02 On-premise Edition

This has some new features over the previous on-premise editions which supports the integration scenario with the Employee Central SAP SuccessFactors using the HANA Cloud Interface (HCI). This also offers enhancements for Grading and Advising, Curriculum Management, Progression and Graduation, and so on.

#5- SAP S/4HANA Cloud Editions

This edition is available as SaaS, resided on SAP owned infrastructure which is operated and maintained by SAP. The deployment options such as IaaS (HANA Enterprise Cloud) and PaaS (HANA Cloud Platform) with both private and public cloud options. Two out of the following three cloud editions part of SAP S/4HANA are specific to a Line of Business (LoB).

• SAP S/4HANA Marketing Cloud
• SAP S/4HANA Professional Services Cloud
• SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management Cloud

#6- SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1605

This is the official product name for both 1503 and 1605 edition with two cloud options i.e. Cloud Private Options and Cloud Public Options.

• Cloud Private Options – SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management Cloud
• Cloud Public Options – SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Management Cloud, SAP S/4HANA Professional Cloud, and Sap S/4HANA Marketing Cloud.

#7- SAP S/4HANA Cloud 1608

This edition has built customer trust and drove innovation adoption by showing the evolution path of product and solution landscape with a focus on business value and more insights about upcoming innovations. Here are few new features and innovations introduced in this edition:
