SAP S/4HANA Simple Logistics: Is it Right for Me?

Output management has been replaced by Business Rule Framework in 1511 version however in 1610 SAP provides an option to go with either Business rule framework or NACE. Business Rule Framework works on adobe server, where Technical Consultants will configure decision tables, Functional Consultants work on configuration on output determination technique.

We have a new concept related to table maintenance and query building through transaction code SE16H, where we can use this table to build queries from multiple tables. Foreign Trade Functionality will be no longer supported in SAP S/4HANA, to use this option one has to purchase SAP S/4 GTS which is not included in SAP S/4HANA Simple Logistics.

The business partner concept is new functionality introduced in SAP S/4 HANA Simple Logistics the traditional transaction codes like XD01, VD01, XK01, FK01 are obsolete in SAP S/4HANA, this transaction codes will route you to BP transaction code. Business Partner in SAP S/4HANA is now hierarchy new tables like BUT000 have introduced in place. SAP has introduced Fiori concept which runs on IP address, in Fiori, you can use tiles, catalogues to run transactions and reporting, we can customize Fiori according to Business requirements.

The introduction of digitalization has eased Business transactions in SAP through electronic devices like mobile phones, android watches, tabs. Where the user can create a sales order, create a purchase order, run MRP reports and analyse live data without using GUI. The credit management has moved from Financial Accounting to Account Receivables Sales and Distribution to Financial Accounting-Account Receivables-Financial supply chain management, a separate Business partner role need to be created called ’UKM000-SAP Credit Management’.

In SAP inventory management some transaction codes like MB1C, MB1B, MB1A, and MBST are Obsolete Sales & Operations Planning Functionality in Sales and Distribution have replaced by Integrated Business Planning.

Supplier Relationship Management will be introduced in future releases with SAP S/4HANA Simple Logistics. In sales and distribution module the traditional tables like VBUK, VBUP have moved to header tables VBAK, VBAP, LIKP and LIPS. Field lengths of SD document category have extended from 2 to 4 and relevant data type have replaced from VBTYP to VBTYPL, where the data element VBTYP_EXT is eliminated.

Sequential Number lengths in access sequence (KOLNR) have extended from 99 to 999 so that we can use more accesses. Traditional SD Revenue recognition is not available in SAP S/4HANA, the new equivalent functionality called SAP Revenue Accounting and Reporting can be used with some exceptions.

In Material Management module we can observe an important innovation in material valuation, now some transactions are obsolete in good movement, to achieve user has to maintain ‘S’ or ‘Standard’ option in price control in accounting view in material master, this is used to maintain the relation between material inventory cost, quantity and value and keep constant.

In the Production planning module, we can observe a few items as a part of delta changes. The traditional logic 4.0 is been replaced with 4.5 logic which can be executed by planning separately.
