What are the Differences between Data Mining ,Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Machine Learning?
Category: General Posted:Oct 19, 2014 By: Ashley MorrisonLet’s understand what is machine language and how is it used? Machine learning is the self-learning method which involves generic algorithm. As we can understand these are generic in nature and can be applied into various domains of applications. Data Mining involves applying the algorithms to find solutions for domain related problems. It involves combining data with algorithms in this process. Statistics is a analytic study of collection, organizing and analyzing from the data. It deduces information from the data. Hence to learn self-developing algorithms machine language uses statistics and to solve a problem Data Mining uses results from algorithms with the help of statistics. In business domains data mining is used to solve complex problems.
Artificial Intelligence is a scientific system to develop software that can mimic human work. Artificial intelligence defines multiple chunks which further can be linked to various fields of study for the existing problem. Hence Artificial Intelligence is used for Knowledge representation, Natural language processing, Automated planning and scheduling, Computer vision, Machine learning, Robotics, Reasoning and General Intelligence. Hence this finds a lot of application in the field of medicine, business, space and military. As we saw in the above definitions these fields like Data Mining ,Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Machine Learning are interdependent and hence require data from each other to survive. Data mining uses all these methods like Artificial Intelligence, Statistics and Machine Learning to deduce results. Hence it’s a broad area of study.
